Duduka Da Fonseca

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Duduka Da Fonseca is a drummer and percussionist. Since the age of 12, he has been playing drums and was already performing with some of Brazil’s most skilled musicians. Da Fonseca emigrated to New York in 1975. He has enjoyed a successful career playing with ensembles such as the Brazilian Express, New York Samba Band and the Brazilian All Stars. Da Fonseca has also been a Drummers Collective faculty member and conducted workshops in Japan, Europe and Japan. Da Fonseca is also the author and producer of Brazilian Rhythms for the Drumset, an instructional book and tape. Da Fonseca has recorded and performed with Joe Henderson, Gerry Mulligan and Antonio Carlos Jobim throughout his career. He co-founded Trio da Paz in 1992 with Romero Lubambo, guitarist, and Nilson Matta, bassist. There are several albums available on Malandro. Allmusic
