Even though he is a relatively newcomer to New York’s music scene, Eden Bareket, an Argentine-born Israeli baritone saxophonist, quickly earned attention and respect as an in-demand Sideman. Bareket’s collaboration projects are a testament to his eclecticism. His horn playing ranges include the modern Eyal Vilner Big Band, the adventurous Ari Hoenig Nonet, and even the Ethiopian-inspired grooves of Anbessa Orchestra. Bareket’s star has grown and he has now merged these musical strands into his own leader project, which features Or Bareket as bassist and Felix Lecaros as drummer. The group uses this minimalistic and straightforward instrumentation to their advantage, as they play a series of funky, dark-hued grooves while also allowing for flexibility.
