Endangered Blood was formed in 2008 to perform a benefit concert for Andrew D’Angelo’s health. The performance was performed by Jim Black, the drummer, and Trevor Dunn, the bassist. They were also joined by Oscar Noriega and Chris Speed as saxophonists. As happens so often in modern groups, familiar players in different combination produce compelling results. Black and Speed both hail from Tim Berne’s Vanguard Band, Bloodcount. They also have experience with Human Feel, Pachora and Yeah No. Dunn was a member Mr. Bungle, as well as bands led by John Zorn. Noriega, one of Berne’s newest finds, is a long-time collaborator with Satoko. Allaboutjazz
