Enzo Carniel

Enzo Carniel, a French pianist, was born in 1987. Enzo Carniel began playing the piano as a child and then discovered jazz in his teens. After spending five years at Marseille University studying medicine, Carniel decided that music was his passion and graduated in 2009 with the highest honors from the Marseille Conservatoire. Carniel continued his studies at the Paris Conservatoire in jazz and improvised musical composition. He also performed as a trio member and soloist. Carniel was interested in contemporary music and composition, as well as arrangement. These influences and experiences lead to the founding of House of Echo. The quartet released an album in 2013 that included both original and improvised songs. Carniel is influenced by Thelonious Monk and Keith Jarrett, as well as great jazz pianists from the past. He explores the sound and musical potentials of the piano. Carniel’s approach is to the music as it emerges, with aesthetic non-judgement. He also uses all his senses and influences in improvisation. Enzo Carniel performed at many festivals including the Tangier Jazz Festival (Morocco), the Eclat d’Email Festival in Limoges and Toulon Jazz Festival. He also participated in the Festival d’Art Lyric, Aix-en-Provence Festival, and the Avignon Festival. He toured over a dozen African countries in 2013 with Nicolas Folmer, the trumpeter. from https://nomadmusic.fr
