EC is a second-generation musician. He was born to Rebecca Coleman and EC in Naples, Italy. Ernest Coleman Jr. was Ernest Coleman’s father. He was a jazz musician who played the tenor sax as well as being a great arranger, composer, and pianist. EC was a student at the Naval Conservatory of Music, Norfolk, Virginia. He received a special award for being the youngest graduate of this conservatory. After his tour with Navy Band, EC relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he began his true musical journey.
