Espen Berg

Born June 30, 1983 in Hamar Norway, Espen Berg is a Norwegian composer and pianist. He currently resides at Trondheim where he has a master’s in jazz composition and piano after studying at NTNU – the Norwegian University of Science and Technology’s highly regarded jazz department. Since 2003, Espen has been touring the globe performing concerts. In 2016, Espen was presented Norway’s largest music award, “JazZtipendiatet”, which resulted in a commission work for Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, featuring soloists such as Eirik Hedgeal, Ole Morten Vagan, and Ola Kvernberg. Espen has been a part of many albums and collaborated with artists like Silje Nergaard and Anders Blake. Together with his trio, Espen was elected NTNU AMBASSADOR in 2016. Together with his trio, Espen receives grants from Arts Council Norway 2016-2018. He was also awarded scholarships and prizes by the city of Trondheim and TONO (Norwegian Equiv.) in 2016.
