The unusual Hammond B3 organ, piano, and drums are the basis of this Norwegian trio. The sound of these instruments was fascinating to us all, and we were disappointed that this combination was not more commonly found. This trio is able to combine the rhythmic and melodic sounds of the organtrio with those of the piano trio. This could make you wonder why it hasn’t been used more often. We soon discovered the reason: Excess luggage! Music is built on strong melodies, lots of energy, and a well-developed interplay between musicians who have been friends for years. This trio has created original songs and used arrangements from well-known standards to create the tunes. Vigleik Storaas is one of the most prominent Norwegian pianists. Two norwegian Gramys were awarded to his recordings with his own trio. He is also a composer for bestillingsverk at the Trondheim and Vossajazz festivals. As a sideman, he has recorded more than 20 jazz records, including with Terje Typdal and Warne Marsh, Karin Krog, NHOP and Terje Typdal. Steinar Nickelsen was named Young Norwegian Jazz musician’s of the Year» in 2002. He and the trio SOLID!u003e received many gigs throughout Europe and Norway. In 2003, SOLID!» won the Getxo competition. In 2002, Pal Thowsen and Jon Eberson recorded the song. Trondheim Jazzorchestra, Pat Metheny and Trondheim Jazzorchestra toured in 2003. Hakon Mjaset Johansen was a young drummer who quickly established himself as one the most respected in Norway. In 1998, the trio “Urban Connection”, was named “Young Norwegian Jazzmusician” of the Year. Their debut album “Urban Connection” won them a Grammy and they were nominated for a second, called “French Only”. Hakon has toured in 2000-01 with Chick Corea, Trondheim Jazzorchestra and performed quartet at the Molde festival with Michael Brecker in 2003.
