Fjoralba Turu was born in Albania, 1983. She emigrated from Albania to Munich at the age of nine. Rudens Turku, Fjoralba’s brother, is a well-known violinist. Fjoralba was also a violin player as a child. She still uses the sound of the violin to inspire her voice. Fjoralba studied acting and drama in Munich, and Paris. It was in Paris, however, that Fjoralba met Carole Simone, a jazz singer. Turku’s sleeping talent, singing, awakened her. Turku was admitted to the Munich Conservatory of Music in 2007. In the same year, Geoff Goodman, a New York guitarist, invited Turku to join his world-music band Tabla.
