Sam Shepherd is a British DJ, producer and musician. He is co-founder of Eglo Records, and the leader of the 16-piece group called Floating points Ensemble. Shepherd was born in Manchester, England. He studied piano at Chetham’s School of Music, and then received a PhD in neuroscience at University College London. In the late 2000s, he worked as a DJ for Plastic People in London. Shepherd is influenced by Olivier Messiaen and Claude Debussy. Shepherd started releasing music under the Floating points moniker in 2008 In 2017, he toured with The xx. Shepherd claimed that he had approximately 10,000 records in a 2015 interview. Shepherd performed previously with a 16-piece live incarnation, the FloatingPoints Ensemble. The group was awarded the “Best BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale Session” award. From Wikipedia
