François Moutin & Kavita Shah Duo

Francois Moutin, a French bass player, and Kavita Shah (a New York-born singer) present “Interplay”, their first duo album of jazz standards and original music that has been adapted for this unusual instrumentation. Moutin and Shah join legendary guests, octogenarians Martial Solal (piano) and Sheila Jordan (vocals), on an improvisational journey that includes both lyric-driven pieces and non-wordless music. Francois Moutin (www.moutin.com), an accomplished bassist, was born and raised in Paris. He received a doctorate of physics at 24. Before deciding to pursue a career as a professional musician. He was part of the famed Martial Solal Trio and, at the age of 29, he began leading the Quintet Moutin along with his twin brother Louis. This project later became the Moutin Reunion Quartet. This group regularly tours Europe with him.
