Frente Cumbiero

Mario Galeano, Bogota’s bass player, is also a music scholar, a musician, and a collector of records. He is part of Frente Cumbiero’s band, which together are at the center of the current revival of Cumbia music. The new Colombian approach is different from the electronic sounds of Argentinian Cumbia Villera and Mexican Sonidera, which first reached global soundsystems. It uses the orchestra as a starting point. However, it retains a true sense of Afro-Caribean culture and vinyl culture. – Interviews Magazine
