Fromuz, also known as FROM.UZ, is an Uzbek progressive-rock band that was formed in Tashkent in 2004 by Vitaly Popeloff (also known as Andrew Mara Novik). Fromuz is an acronym for “from Uzbekistan” and was taken from an early song title. Fromuz is one of the most popular progressive rock/fusion groups in Central Asia. The band’s sound is primarily instrumental. Fromuz was founded in Tashkent by Vitaly Popeloff (guitar), Andrew Maranov (bass), Vladimir Badirov (drummer), and Albert Khalmurzaev (keyboard player). Their first live performance was a concert dance in progressive-rock style “Sodom”.
