Funk Off

Funk Off: The Lowdown Yeah! You got it! A marchin’ band that plays funk It’s hard to describe in one sentence what a street marchin’ band act is all all about (7 trumpets, 7 sousaphones, and 1 sousaphone): all moving and having fun to jazz-spun rhythms. Funk is on the streets, but you can also see it on stage. Three baritone saxophones and a sousaphone make Funk Off’s funky bass line. Four dudes play the drums: snare drum and bass drum; cymbals are percussion. Two alto and two tenor Sax are able to play in harmony, and three trumpets blast out the tunes !!!!. The band has performed more than 200 concerts in four years (Mercantia and Ferrara Buskers Festivals, Verona and Roma, Napoli, Napoli, Verona and Roma) as well on great stages like “Poretta Soul Festival”, “Grey Cat Jazz Festival” or “Camaiore Jazz”. What you get is a group of 15 funksters learning from the great New Orleans masters and reworking them to fit the music of James Brown, Maceo Parker, Frank Zappa, George Clinton, Maceo Peter, James Brown, and James Brown. Music to not only listen to but also to dance to, especially when the drums kick in and the beat begins. From www.funkoff.net
