Gary Schunk

Gary Schunk is a classically-trained jazz pianist who amazes his audience wherever he performs. Schunk blends his passion with his technical skills at his keyboards. He is based in Detroit, Michigan and has won much acclaim for his work as an acoustic piano player and electronic keyboardist for Schunk-Starr-Dryden. For which he arranges and composes using synthesizers. Schunk is always in demand when jazz legends come to town. He has performed with Joe Williams, Earl Klugh and Sonny Stitt as well as Kenny Burrell, Anita O’Day and Mark Murphy. Schunk was one of the ten winners of JAZZIZ magazine’s “Keyboards on Fire” contest in November 1995. This contest celebrated original piano jazz compositions by unsigned pianists. Backward Glance is one of Schunk’s electrifying compositions. It is also featured on JAZZIZ’s compilation CD. Schunk’s independent produced debut CD, The Key Player, features four original pieces.
