Gerhard Weilheim (known as Gerry Weilheim) is an Austrian-born Venezuelan jazz musician. He was born 11 August 1939 in Vienna. The Austrian government awarded Weil the Decoration of Merit in Gold in 2009 for his services to the Republic of Austria. From Wikipedia Gerry Weil fled Austria as a young man after learning and admiring Glenn Miller’s music under the Allied occupation. Since then, he has lived in Venezuela for over fifty years. He is a jazz musician, pianist, teacher and jazz pianist. His teachings focus on harmony and jazzimprovisation. His diverse compositions combine Viennese music with Latin American sounds, such as the songs of the Venezuelan Pemon Indians. Weil was awarded Venezuela’s highest honor for musicians, the Premio Nacional de Musica in August 2008. Weil is a passionate ambassador for Austrian culture and loves to share his love at concerts.
