Gianluca Petrella

Gianluca Petrella, an Italian jazz trombonist. He is widely considered to be one of the top young jazz trombonists. He was awarded the Django d’Or Award in Italy and Musica Jazz’s annual critics poll for Best Young Talent. He was awarded Down Beat’s Best Emerging artist category in 2006 and 2007. In 1993, he began his professional career with Roberto Ottaviano. Many international musicians have worked with him, including Joey Calderazzo and Jimmy Owens, Greg Osby and Carla Bley. He is most well-known for his “Indigo 4”, which he co-produced with Francesco Bearzatti, Paolino and Fabio Accardi. These recordings were released by Blue Note and received high marks from critics.
