Giovanni Ceccarelli

Giovanni Ceccarelli was a 1967 Italian citizen. At seven years old, he began studying classical piano. Six years later, he discovered jazz. Many of his projects are dedicated to original compositions and arrangements of music from all over the globe. Giovanni Ceccarelli’s debut album as a leader was a piano duet featuring Eddie Wied (USA), “The Street Dancer” (1998). The next album is “Feedin’ Inner Urges”, (2009) which was recorded with Fabrizia Barrresi and “The Nights of the Beuscher”, (2009), which features great saxophonist Massimo Uribi. He founded the band InventaRio in 2009 with Ferruccio Spinetti, a bassist. The group also includes Dadi, a Brazilian songwriter. They are also the artistic producers for “InventaRio”, a 2010 album that features such great artists like Marisa Monte and Ivan Lins. It was released in Japan and Italy, and it has been a huge success with both critics and the public. Another recent album is “Daydreamin” (2010), which features only original music. “Waxin’ in Camerino” (2011) was recorded by Giovanni Ceccarelli with Lee Konitz, a legendary saxophonist, after a 13-year-long collaboration. The beginning of collaboration with Bonsai Music marks Ceccarelli’s most recent album, “Meteores”, (2011). This album features mostly original music and was recorded in Trio with Ferruccio Spitetti and Francesco Petreni. The album features Fausto Messolella and David Linx as lyrics composers and guest artists. The album is awarded the “Selection FIP”, in France, and the “Selection Harmunia Mundi”, in Switzerland. Giovanni Ceccarelli records and performs all over the globe with many well-known artists such as singers Amii Stewart and Nancy King, as well as saxophonists Rosario Giuliani and Charles Davis, and trumpeters Kenny Wheeler and Paolo Fresu. He is currently a teacher at the French Cultural Center, Damascus (Syria), and at the InJazz Summer Clinics and the “SpringInJazz Music Seminars”, in Fabriano, and Labro, Italy.
