Gold Company

The internationally-respected and award-winning vocal jazz group, Gold Company, is based at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo (MI). Gold Company is made up of both undergraduate and graduate students. Their majors include jazz studies, vocal performance, music education and music therapy. The program’s graduates are currently touring with stars such as Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift. The program’s graduates are also employed in music composition, music publishing, and music education. Gold Company alumni are currently leading the nation’s best collegiate vocal jazz programs. This elite ensemble is part of WMU’s innovative Jazz Studies program. They perform all over the United States, Canada, Europe and even on both coasts this year. The Gold Company performed at the Jazz Education Network international conference, MusicFest Canada and the Music Educators National Conference. They also performed at the American Choral Directors Association divisional convention, Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Carnegie Hall. Over the years, Gold Company and Jazz Studies have had many guest artists. Some of the most recent guest artists are Kate McGarry, Keith Ganz, Sara Gazarek, Josh Nelson, Bobby McFerrin and Gretchen Parlato. from http://wmich.edu/music
