Graham Costello’s Strata

Graham Costello’s STRATA was named one of Jazzwise Magazine’s “One to Watch In 2019” and nominated at the Scottish Jazz Awards for “Best EP/Album” and “Best Band/Album”. They combine stylistic elements from jazz, minimalism and well-respected progressive/noise/jazz bands with a strong DIY ethic. Their performances are a mix of high energy and genuine enthusiasm. The music is a mix of polyrhythm, collective groove, and improvisation at its core. STRATA has also held a monthly residency at Bloc, a renowned independent venue in Glasgow. They have received standing ovations and sell-out performances at Scotland’s top jazz festivals. Here, they’ve continued to craft their sound and bring improvised music to newer audiences since February 2017, forging a strong and unique connection between the jazz and independent/underground communities.
