GRP is most well-known as a label that specializes in jazz. But, in 1992, Dave Grusin (labelhead) and Larry Rosen (heads of the company) decided to create a star-studded bigband with their top players. These recordings featured artists such as Randy Brecker and Chuck Findley, Dave Grusin and Ernie Watts. John Patitucci and Tom Scott were also included on the recordings. These recordings offer little surprise (other than Scott and company’s ability to play the bop), but they are still enjoyable. Allmusic
