Guapo is a British experimental rock/art rock band formed in the mid-1990s by drummer/percussionist Dave Smith and guitarist/vocalist Matt Thompson, though the band gained a wider audience with the contribution of multi-instrumentalist Daniel O’Sullivan. Smith, guitarist Kavus Turabi, bassist James Sedwards, and Emmett Elvin, keyboardist of Chrome Hoof, make up the current lineup. The Guapo album Elixirs ends a trilogy of recondite recordings that was started by Five Suns (2003, Black Oni (2004)) and Emmett Elvin of Chrome Hoof. Each record offers a variety of musical perspectives and new musical shades. In 2005, Thompson left the band after a major change in the lineup, which had in recent years been anchored by Matthew Thompson, Daniel O’Sullivan and David Smith. Smith and O’Sullivan both perform in the anti-prog band Miasma
