Gunter Hampel, born 31 August 1937, is a German jazz vibraphonist and clarinettist. He was also a saxophonist and flautist. Jeanne, who is now deceased, was Gunter’s wife. Hampel was a dedicated free-jazz musician in the 1960s. He started his own label, Birth Records, and has worked with many artists, including Laurie Allan and Udo Lindenberg.
