Guy Warren (also known as Kofi Ghanaba) was one of the first African musicians to have an impact on world music. This was a remarkable feat for someone who was so out of his time and audience that most of his peers couldn’t even see him. Born in Accra in Ghana in West Africa in 1923. He was attracted to music from a young age, particularly traditional Ghanian percussion. In 1937, at the age of 14, he joined the Accra Rhythmic Orchestra as a drummer.
