Hannes Riepler was born in Austria and studied jazz guitar at Amsterdam. He moved to London in 2006 and joined the lively scene, playing all over the city with other jazz musicians. He is a dynamic and creative guitarist, a spirited composer, and hosts the Vortex Downstairs Jazz Night jam sessions. Riepler’s music is rooted both in jazz tradition and contemporary, and it is always hot and immediate. It is freewheeling and sometimes wildly swinging in New York Downtown style. This is perfectly matched with the excellent musicians in his Quintet. Hannes Riepler is a sought-after sideman and bandleader in the UK.
