Hans Marius Andersen, born 23/12/1994 in Bergen/Norway, is an international trumpeter and composer. Andersen began playing the trumpet when he was three years old. Hans Marius started playing the trumpet at the age of three. He joined the local school band when he was five and five years later, he moved to the local brass band. Hans Marius has become a top-class soloist over the years. Hans Marius is a jazz and classical musician. He is able to handle both technical and calm melodic pieces, as well as trumpet concertos. Teachers he have/had includes Arnulf Naur Nilsen, Helge Haukas, Stian Eilertsen, Eyolf Dale, Erik Halvorsen and Are Ovesen. Hans Marius has collaborated with many well-known artists, such as Ole Edvard Antonsen and Jerry Bergonzi, Jerry Bergonzi and Tord Gustavsen. He also worked with Oyvind Elgenes and Mike Gallaher. He was also a soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and The Armed Forces’ Band West. His first album, “My Christmas”, was released at 15 years of age. He was joined by some of Norway’s finest musicians as both a member of the band and as a guest artist on this record. This record is jazz/pop. The Hans Marius Andersen Quintet was formed in the autumn 2012. The band has evolved into a quintet that includes Hans Marius Andersen (Trumpet), Michael Barnes(Saxophone), Carsten Nyngeland (Piano), Ole Amund Gjersvik, Bass), Tore Ljokelsoy and Tore Ljokelsoy.
