Henry Spencer is a multi-award-winning trumpet player, composer, and bandleader. After his debut performance with Juncture and Henry Spencer, Henry was awarded the Emerging Excellence Award (Help Musicians UK), and the Best Newcomer Award at Marlborough Jazz Festival. He performs with a variety of ensembles and solos in jazz, big bands, rock bands, recording sessions, and theatre orchestras. Henry has worked with many musicians and ensembles. Some of these include George Porter Jr. (The Meters), Julian Joseph and Stan Sulzmann. Marvin Stamm, Stan Sulzmann. Henry Lowther. Anthony Strong, The Zealots. Hot Air. Sibilla. The London Salsa All Stars. Chromatone. Crowd Company. The National Youth Jazz Orchestra. London City Big Band. The London Jazz Orchestra. Henry is also an educator of jazz and trumpet, when he’s not performing or composing. Henry was born in Wiltshire, in 1990. He began playing the trumpet when he was ten years old. Henry received a DfES scholarship in 2006 as a Specialist musician at Wells Cathedral School. He was selected to take the four-year jazz course (BMus Hons), at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London in 2008. He was able to study and participate in masterclasses led by musicians like John Scofield and Joshua Redman. He was also taught by Robbie Robson and Trevor Tomkins, Scott Stroman and Martin Hathaway.
