Herbie Harper

Herbie Harper was a fine trombonist who played in the West Coast jazz scene in the 1950s. However, he did occasionally return to the jazz world. Harper moved to Los Angeles after playing with Charlie Spivak’s Orchestra (1944-1947). He also had brief associations with Stan Kenton (1950), Charlie Barnet (1950), and Benny Goodman (1950). Herbie Harper recorded five albums for Nocturne in 1954-1957. After leaving the big band, Harper returned to the studios and recorded with Bob Florence. In the 1980s, he also recorded with Bill Perkins for VSOP. Allmusic
