Howes3

HOWES3 are an exciting Brighton-based jazz funk/gospel fusion power trio. Brought together through a mutual love of 70’s jazz funk, 80’s fusion, 90’s R’n’B, gospel and hip-hop they cultivate a unique sound that has a foot in each genre. Blending smooth neo-soul progressions and utilising rich gospel harmony, sincere melodies and increasing levels of rhythmic freedom throughout, their music takes you on a feel-good journey through their collective influences. After crafting their musical vision over a year of residencies and appearances around the south of England, they boldly threw themselves into the studio to record their first album. Showcasing their skilful musicianship, influences and fun-loving three-way musical communication, the album features jazz pianist/keyboard player/composer and founder of HOWES3, Oli Howe on piano, rhodes and synthesisers, Marcus Porter on bass and Luke Campbell on drums. Following their earlier appearances at Jazz Re:Freshed (Mau Mau Bar, Nottinghill, London), Love Supreme Festival (Glynde), Southbank Centre (Lambeth, London), Sofar Sounds (London), Soundcrash Funk & Soul Weekender (Brighton) and now added to the line-up of many well-known festivals and events this summer, HOWES3 are rapidly making a name for themselves amongst their peers and are a welcome addition to the new and exciting resurgence of jazz-influenced music in the UK. In 2019 the band supported jazz-fusion legend, Billy Cobham, for two consecutive sold-out shows at the Jazz Cafe (Camden, London), as well as supporting Taylor Mcferrin at Oslo (Hackney, London) playing the Great Escape Festival and more throughout the year. The bands music has been supported by the likes of Jazz FM, Worldwide FM, Soho Radio and more. from www.howes3.com
