Huw Warren

Huw Warren, a Welsh jazz composer and pianist, was born May 18, 1962, in Swansea. He began his musical journey as a cellist with a youth orchestra. Later, he learned to play the organ and then moved to piano. In 1980, John Tilbury, an experimental pianist at the University of London at Goldsmiths, taught him how to play the piano. After a few years, he was involved in local jazz and avant-garde scenes, before transferring to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The jazz group Perfect Houseplants was co-founded by Mark Lockheart, Dudley Phillips and Martin France. They released five albums on various labels. As an arranger and music director, he also started a long-lasting collaboration with June Tabor, the English singer. This led to a total of ten albums. He also worked with Maria Lamburn on three albums. Warren has collaborated and played with many musicians over his career. These include Lleuwen Stewart, Mark Feldman and Maria Pia de Vito.
