Igor Gehenot

Igor Gehenot (Liege 27, 11.1989) began classical piano studies at an early age. He enters the Jazz Section of the Royal Academy of Liege at 13 and the conservatory in Maastricht at 19. He met drummer Antoine Pierre at 17 and they started the Metropolitan Quartet. They have performed many concerts throughout Belgium and overseas. The Quartet is awarded the Comblain-La-Tour Festival’s “Young Talent” Prize. In 2009, he enters the Royal Conservatory of Brussels for two years. He studies with Eric Legnini and then starts his own trio with Sam Gerstmans, on double bass, and Antoine Pierre, on drums. He is offered a residence at The “Sounds”, one of Brussels’ main jazzclubs. This has helped to develop the unity of his trio. It also allowed him to play with many guests such as Jean-Paul Estievenart and Lorenzo Di Maio. Igor Gehenot wins the 2011 Sabam Jeunesses Musicales Jazz Awards. His first trio album, ‘Road Story’, is produced by IGLOO Records. The album is praised by the national and international media, sold many copies, and reached 1st position in Tokyo’s Diskunion charts. It was also elected Top Title and Top Album on Deezer Music.
