J. D. Walter

JD Walter is a jazz singers – a purist as well as an innovator. Although his style is often compared to other vocal giants, it is unique and has made him a major star on the music scene. JD is respected and praised by many of the top musicians in the current circuit. He has performed on stage with such legends as: Dave Liebman (Billy Hart), Tom Harrell, Edgar Bateman and Nicholas Payton, Bill Dorough, Bob Dorough and Bob Dorough, Bob Dorough and Bob Dorough, Bob Dorough and Edgar Bateman. JD was a member of the “American Boy Choir” and received a vocal jazz scholarship to the University of North Texas. JD currently has seven CD’s. “Sirens in C-House”, “Dedicated To You”, “Clear Day”, and “Sirens in C-House” are just a few of the seven CD’s JD has recorded. He also released “One Step Away”, his seventh CD. His albums have helped him expand his listener base from America to Europe, Russia, and the Far East. “Walter is changing the way jazz singing is done. He’s opening up familiar material for new interpretations, while still engaging and entertaining his audience. JD has performed in more than 100 cities in Russia, Europe, and the Middle East. He was a featured performer at many American jazz festivals. He has given numerous clinics to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Music Educators National Conference. He also taught at The Athenian Conservatory in Helsinki Finland and Jazz Palau De Valencia, Spain, and The University of North Texas. He’s a regular performer on New York’s music scene, having headlined at venues such as Lincoln Center and The Jazz Standard, The Blue Note and The Jazz Gallery.
