Multi-talented and adventurous, trumpeter Jacques Kuba Seguin can compose for groups of different formats: Litania Projekt, Odd Lot, or quintet. His new album, Migrations, will be released in 2019. Seguin’s music is melodic, energetic, and easily accessible. Seguin is a performer and is known as one of the best trumpeters his generation. Seguin, a 2012-13 Radio-Canada Revelations Prize winner, is becoming more prominent on Quebec’s stage. He was nominated in 2015 for ADISQ awards for best arranger and jazz album for L’elevation de point de chute. In 2016, he was also nominated in the same categories for Litania Projekt and the Quatuor Bozzini. He was nominated in 2015 for a Prix Opus award for jazz album for the year at L’elevation de point de chute. In 2016, he received an ADISQ award for Litania Projekt with the Quatuor Bozzini for jazz and world music concert for the 2014 Montreal International Jazz Festival. Jacques also presented an expanded version his Litania Projekt which included a string quartet. Jacques has been touring Europe for more than ten year, particularly Poland. He undertook a 13-concert trip of Poland, Lithuania and Germany in fall 2016 to celebrate the European release JKS Litania Project with le Quatuor Bolziini, a Slovakian jazz label. The same project was also presented in China, Quebec and other parts of Canada. He regularly plays with musicians from Montreal’s jazz scene, such as Elizabeth Shepherd, Yves Leveille and Jazzlab. He is also a member Papagroove and has performed with Jean Leloup and Ariane Mofatt, Dobacaracol and Pierre Lapointe. Jacques toured the world for two years with Cirque de Soleil’s Delirium. He performed in over 150 cities. As a composer and bandleader, Jacques has five albums on the ODD SOUND record label, which he started and still runs. Symphonie en blue, the ICI Musique Classique radio program that connects jazz and classical music, is Jacques’s production.
