James Dapogny

James Dapogny, born September 3, 1940 in Berwyn, Illinois, is an American jazz musician, pianist, and bandleader. He is primarily involved in the traditional jazz revival scene. Since 1975, Dapogny has been the leader of the Chicago Jazz Band. He has performed with Sippie Wallace and other Chenille Sisters, and has often appeared on Prairie Home Companion. He is a doctoral candidate in composition and has been a professor at the University of Michigan for over ten years. Dapogny is a prolific writer on Jelly Roll Morton. He also wrote liner notes for his Library of Congress recordings. He edits Jazz Masterworks Editions. This series was initiated by Oberlin College, Smithsonian Institution. From Wikipedia
