Jamie Reynolds, a Canadian keyboardist, pianist and composer, has been living in New York City ever since 2005. In 2004, he graduated from the University of Toronto with an honors. He studied with Mike Murley and Phil Nimmons. Jamie moved to New York from Canada in 2005, when he received multiple Canada Council grants to private study with Fred Hersch u0026 Craig Taborn. He also received professional development grants to tour in 2012 and record his album Counterpart 2013. Jamie has performed at New York’s most prestigious jazz clubs. He has also toured extensively throughout Europe, America, and Canada, including at the Newport Jazz Festival. Jamie has worked with many great musicians since moving to New York. These include the jazz saxophonist Rob Scheps of whose Core-tet Jamie is a member; the singer/performer Laila Salains, whose album, “Elevator Into the Sky”, set Anne Sexton’s poetry to music; the composer and bassist Michael Oien; the Emmy winning Irish tenor Michael Londra; as well as many other artists. Jamie is also a long-standing faculty member of the 92nd St. Y School of Music where he teaches composition, theory, jazz piano and theory. Jamie is also a Diller-Quaile School of Music staff accompanist and a former Queens College faculty member. Jamie’s debut album, “Time with People”, was released in 2012. It is an acoustic trio recording of original music. His second,”Counterpart”, features electric instruments and effects and was self-released in 2013. Jamie’s next project “Grey Mirror” features Matthew Stevens, the guitarist, and the Westerlies, an improvising brass band. It will be released on the Fresh Sound label in 2017.
