Jan Akkerman, a musician of almost legendary prowess was once ranked as the best guitarist in the world by readers polls in England. Akkerman was born and raised in Amsterdam, Holland. He began playing the guitar in his twelfth grade year. His tastes and interests ranged from classical to pop/rock, while still allowing for blues and Latin influences. Johnny was his first band.
