Janko Nilović

Janko Nilovic, 73, is one of the most well-known and prolific library music composers out there. He was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1941. He moved to Paris in 60 and has recorded over 60 albums and many 45s. His music spans many genres, including jazz and classical, as well as psychedelic rock and funk/soul. Jay-Z and The Beatnuts have sampled his work. Although much of Nilovic’s work has been lost to dusty crates or eBay auctions, some of Nilovic’s albums have been reissued by independent labels such as Light in the Attic Records. Parisian record label Underdog Records has reissued Pop Impressions, and Super America, two albums by Nilovic this year. The first is a collection of engaging and inventive experiments in different sonic templates. The latter sounds very different from pop music and features rhythms that are far more American than the one you would expect. Both records are for those who have enjoyed Madlib’s Beat Konducta Series. from http://john-coltrane.musicnewshq.com
