Trumpeter, Composer, & Educator Jared Hall has performed and recorded with Paquito D’Rivera (Carnegie Hall), Bob Hurst, Peter Erskine, Dave Liebman, Vincent Herring, Alan Pasqua, Brian Lynch, Ira Sullivan, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Arturo Sandoval, Maria Schneider, Terence Blanchard, John Daversa, Rick Margitza, Wycliffe Gordon, David Binney, George Benson, Gloria Estefan and Fred Hersch. Hall, a native of the Pacific Northwest, studied trumpet with Dan Keberle at Whitworth University in his hometown of Spokane, Washington while conducting a trumpet studio and performing in the areas top ensembles including the Bob Curnow Big Band, Spokane Jazz Orchestra, and Six-Foot Swing. Finishing his master’s degree as an Assistant Instructor at Indiana University, Hall studied with David Baker, Joey Tartell, Michael Spiro and Pat Harbison. The following year he received a teaching assistantship under Grammy Award winning trumpeter and composer Brian Lynch with a Henry Mancini Institute Fellowship at the University of Miami to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts. Studying with Brian Lynch and Terence Blanchard, Hall worked extensively in the straight-ahead, commercial and Latin jazz scene in Miami including performing with The Woody Herman Band, South Florida Jazz Orchestra, Frost Concert Jazz Band, Henry Mancini Jazz Septet directed by Terence Blanchard, Brian Lynch’s Artist Ensemble, and many others. Hall was recognized as the winner of the Jazz Division’s 2013 National Trumpet Competition and 2008 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival’s Outstanding Trumpet Award. Hall’s recording credits include his album Hallways (2017, Hollistic MusicWorks HMW15), the South Florida Jazz Orchestra with Rick Margitza (2018 release), Full Speed Ahead (Chris Croce, 2015), the Henry Mancini Orchestra on Jazz & The Philharmonic CD/DVD (2014), With Love (Jeremy Fox, 2014), Sounds of the Season (Frost School of Music, 2013), Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole (George Benson, 2013), The Main Squeeze (2012), and others. Active in theater productions, Hall has played trumpet in Ragtime, The Producers, The Pajama Game, Shrek the Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Women, Catch Me If You Can, Damn Yankees, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hair, In The Heights, Les Misérables, and Annie, as well as many shows internationally on board Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Since moving to the Seattle, Hall has performed with the 5th Avenue Theatre, Symphony Tacoma, Ron Jones’ Jazz Forest, Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, and many of the regions outstanding ensembles. An in-demand clinician, educator and adjudicator in the area, Hall has served Boise State University, Pacific Lutheran University, Whitworth University, Eastern Washington University, Mount Si High School, Roosevelt High School, Edmonds Woodway High School, Sno-King Music Educators Association, Lake Washington School District, Juanita High School, 88.5FM KNKX Radio, Salk Middle School, Stadium High School, Bellevue College Jazz Festival, Jazz Night School, Seattle Academy of Arts & Sciences, Twin Falls Middle School, Jane Addams Middle School, Chief Kanim Middle School, Northshore Jazz Festival, Frontier Jazz Festival, and others.
