Although Jeff Barnhart is a well-respected pianist, singer, arranger and bandleader, as well as a composer, pedagogue, and entertainer, his humble beginnings are still evident. Jeff started his professional career as a 14-year-old entertainer in Connecticut’s restaurant. He was paid four nights per week. He learned the classic swing, jazz, and ragtime repertoires of the early 20th-century. Jeff played throughout New England with the Galvanized jazz band, which was one of his childhood influences. He toured the USA and Canada in the 1990’s, performing at most major festivals with the Hot Cat Jazz Band or Draga-Vax Connection. Jeff has been a frequent soloist and band pianist at festivals, clubs, and cruises around the world in the 21st century. The Titan Hot 7 is one of the most well-known bands in the country. He also leads the Fryer-Barnhart International Jazz Band in the UK, which focuses on hot music from the 1920s. Jeff Barnhart’s British Band performs small-group swing from the 30’s. Jeff is a rising star in All-Star Jazz ensembles due to his versatility, wide repertoire, and lively energy. Jeff has enjoyed great success with Ivory, in addition to his highly acclaimed solo and group appearances.
