Jeff Parker

Jeff Parker was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut USA on 4/4/677 and is a guitarist. He also composes, teaches, and creates sonic textures. He has been a musician who is able to adapt to changing musical environments since 1990. He also composes instrumental songs. His music is known for its angularity, logic, and instantly recognisable tone. He is considered one of the most innovative and versatile electric guitarists in contemporary music. His work is diverse, ranging from Jazz to contemporary music. He draws inspiration from both experimental and popular music trends. His works explore and exploit the contradictions between technology and tradition, composition and improvisation, the familiar and abstract. His sound palette can include techniques such as sample-based technology, analog and digital synthesizer, and traditional and extended techniques he learned over 35 years playing guitar. He is a founding member and long-standing member of Tortoise, as well as the innovative Isotope 22@ and Chicago Underground. He has also released many albums under his own name. He is currently focusing his efforts on solo performance and solitary work – in order to foster and establish an idiosyncratic connection between electronic and acoustic sound compositional properties. from www.jeffparkersounds.com
