Jihee Heo

Jihee Heo was born in Incheon, South Korea. He is a New York-based jazz keyboardist, composer, and pianist. Heo is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music’s Master of Music (Jazz Performance), and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam’s Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance). Heo has performed at many renowned festivals and venues, including The Washington D.C. Jazz Festival. O Festival. Leverkusen Jazz Festival. The International African Arts Festival. The Jersey Shore Festival. Bergen Pac. Harlem Stage. National Sawdust. Arthur’s Tavern. Rockwood Music Hall. Nublu. Cornelia Street Cafe. Brooklyn Bowls. Heo’s debut album, “Passion”, was released on Heonah Music’s label in 2015. It features Heo’s original compositions and bold arrangements mixed with experimental music. The New York City Jazz Record, MM Jazz Korea and Grammy-winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum have all reviewed “Passion”. WKCR 89.9 FM features Heo’s music often. Her contributions as an arranger, composer and sideman can be seen in “Arirang”, – Christopher Klassen Quartet (2006) and “Naive” (Hyun Sun Park 2010), “Mixology”, – Jayne Wilcox (2016) and “A Night of Obsession” – Miss So and So (2019). Cross Culture Band, Ms. Heo’s collaborator since 2017, will release their second album, “3.0.9”, on April 29th 2020. Heo recorded her first album as a trio, “Are you Ready?” on March 3, 2020 with Rodney Green, NYC’s best bass player Marty Kenney and Mike Marciano, two-time Grammy Award-winning sound engineer at the Samurai Hotel Recording Studio. It has been featured in Downbeat Magazine and Kansas Public Radio’s “Jazz in the Night” as well as her album being selected for Jazz at Lincoln Center’s monthly jazz album roundup. it will be released through OA2 Record (Origin Record) on November 20th, 2020. from www.jiheeheomusic.com
