Joe Gransden

Joe is from New York City, and comes from a musical family. Joe was introduced to music by his father, who is a talented singer and pianist. His grandfather, a trumpeter of distinction, played professionally throughout New York his entire life. On his mother’s side was Carmen Cavallero, a piano virtuoso. Joe began touring as a sideman for the Tommy Dorsey Band, Glenn Miller Band, and shortly after graduating high school. He has performed with Barry White, Kenny Rogers and The Temptations as a sideman. After moving to New York City, Joe performed with Chico O’Farrill and Toshiko Akiyoshi. Joe started his own band, with Joe Cohn as guitarist and Matt Hughes, the former Betty Carter bassist. Evidently, the Joe Gransden Trio has a growing fan base in New York and Atlanta. Joe has been performing at The Jazz Corner, Hilton Head, South Carolina, The Museum of Art and Design, midtown Manhattan, Spivey Hall, Atlanta, and Tehema Golf Club, Carmel, California, as part of a growing schedule. Joe has also released “Close to My Heart”, his new CD produced by Kenny G, a great Saxophone player. Joe has been touring the country with Kenny G’s band for about a year. The talented trumpet player is well-known by fellow musicians all over the country. Joe is also well-respected in New York and Atlanta as a person who is kind, fair and respectful. Joe has managed to balance his professional and personal life. Joe’s lyricism in this turbulent decade is like a breather of fresh air. From www.bluenote.net
