Joe Stilgoe

Joe Stilgoe, born 29 May 1979, is a British singer-pianist and songwriter. Stilgoe was born at Sevenoaks in Kent. Stilgoe is the son of Sir Richard Stilgoe (lyricist, entertainer) and Annabel Hunt (opera singer). After his education at Sevenoaks School, Stilgoe studied Music at the University of Southampton and received a First-Class degree. Stilgoe spent a year performing on cruise ships before he went on to Trinity College of Music. He began to be noticed in bars and clubs during his time at Trinity College. Stilgoe also had a long-term residency at The Dorchester, London. Stilgoe was first seen in public at the Pizza on the Park, London, in 2004. After the performance, Stilgoe was called in by Dame Cleo laine to perform on her Radio 2 show Live from the Stables with Sir John Dankworth. In 2007, Stilgoe signed with Candid jazz label. Candid’s debut album, I Like This One was released in 2008. It received high praise from the national press. Stilgoe was a support act for Melody Gardot in 2007 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. [9] He made his solo debut at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011 with the sell-out show “One Hour!” The Scotsman gave it five stars. Stilgoe was unable to resolve contractual disputes with Candid and decided to buy himself out of the contract. He used money from concerts to record demos for new songs. Stilgoe was signed by Nick Stewart in 2010 under his management, Nick Stewart and Associates. Stilgoe, along with Grammy-nominated producer James McMillan recorded We Look to the Stars in July 2012. On its release, the album reached number one on Amazon Jazz Charts. We Should Kiss, an album from the album was released in July 2012 as a single. Christian Louboutin, a French shoe designer, used the single in his showcase -Fue At Le Crazy Horse in Paris – and exhibition at London Design Museum. Stilgoe also released Songs on Film in February 2014. This album features songs from classic American films as well as Stilgoe’s original compositions that were inspired by them. Linn Records released the album commercially on 17/11/2014, along with his previous albums. Stilgoe was a singer and pianist who has taken part in many recording sessions. This includes the single “Elephant” recorded by Alexandra Burke. In 2012, Kassner Music signed a publishing agreement. Stilgoe’s radio contributions include special guest appearances with Sir Michael Parkinson, Alan Carr and Friday Night Is Music Night. Stilgoe has also been on The Now Show in 2011 u0026 2013, and has been a member since 2010 of BBC Radio 4’s The Horne Section together with Alex Horne.
