John Sund

John Sund was born and raised in Copenhagen. Sund is a self-taught guitar player, composer, arranger, and producer. His main debut was at the age of 18 with the Danish Radio Big Band, a work by pianist Thomas Clausen. He also had Palle Mikkelborg conduct. As one of the “rhythmic musicians”, he was awarded the Jacob Gade’s Grant. Boris Rabinowitsch (Danish jazz reviewer) described him as an extraordinary discovery of ‘Orsted pedersen’ske (NHOP) dimensions. He reviewed his debut at Montmartre in Copenhagen. Since then, he has appeared and recorded in many contexts – including the Danish Radio Jazz Group/ Palle Mikkelborg, Thomas Clausen groups, Creme Fraiche Big Band, Debbie Cameron, Vincent Nilsson, Bo Stief, Tim Hagans, Ganesh, the south Indian musicians Ganesh.
