Jose Carra, a composer and pianist from Spain, is one of the most innovative pianists in the new generation. His music is heavily influenced by jazz and classical music but can also be interpreted as pop, electronic, or popular music. His music is also influenced by poetry, which creates a unique and identifiable universe. In 2016, he was awarded the Muestra-T Malaga Award in recognition of his work as a musician and promoter of Malaga’s image. He also received in 2017 the Prize of Record Work from the Association of Musics of Jazz and Modern Music of Catalonia. Jose Carra’s new album was launched in 2018. The album DIARIO DE FLULEL features original songs written by Carra. It was recorded with Dani Dominguez and Bori Albero (double basses). Following the success of “Verso”, they now have a more electronic sound with minimalist melodies, and a rhythmic basis that is close to rock and electronic. This lyrical universe of “Verso” is already captured, with many landscapes drawn from rock energy to minimalist classical music’s lyricism. The track “Kodama”, which is one of the tracks on the album was chosen as the Track of the Day by the digital magazine “All About Jazz”. Jose Carra recorded “El Camino” with Beatriz Pessoa and Enrique Oliver as well as the bassist Romeu Trostao, Joao Lopes Perueira, and Carlos Cortes, the drummer. Jose has recorded and played with many renowned jazz musicians, including Eric Alexander, Stanley Jordan and Stanley Jordan. Some of his most prestigious record labels include Sony Music, Black and White Music and Fresh Sound Records. As a composer he has made music for film and theater, as well as compositions and arrangements for different symphony orchestras, including the composition of the soundtrack “Coleccionista” Prize of the Fantastic Film Festival of the UMA, the arrangement and orchestration of “Huelva sounds different” of the album of the flamenco cantaora Argentina (Sony Music Spain) and orchestrations for the disc of the Boys of the Choir of Saint Marc “Sing The Beatles” (Black and White Music) from www.festivaljazzcadiz.com
