American jazz composer and pianist Josh Nelson is Josh Nelson. Nelson released his debut album First Stories, which was his first independent release. He was just 19. Nelson’s second album, Anticipation, was released in 2004 and included all of his compositions. Nelson signed with Native Language Music in 2007 and released Let It Go, his third album, along with Sara Gazarek, Anthony Wilson, and Seamus Blake. In 2009, Nelson released his fourth album I Hear a Rhapsody. It features original music by Nelson, standard interpretations and reinventions rock songs. He released Discoveries in 2011, his fifth album. He was influenced by H.G. Wells, Nikola Tesla, and others. Nelson has collaborated with Jeff Hamilton, Peter Erskine and Sara Gazarek. He was also songs and musical director for Sara Gazarek. Nelson has been on tour with Natalie Cole, a jazz vocalist, over the past two-years. Nelson’s compositions for one of Gazarek’s albums reached number ten on Billboard’s Top Jazz Albums Chart. The album featured Nelson’s band. Chuck Berg, a jazz critic, described Nelson as “brilliant young musician whose virtuosity suggests the urbane but bluesy traditionof Oscar Peterson and Gene Harris”.
