Julia Biel is an English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist rooted in jazz, folk, and soul. Biel was born in London, and is a native of Sutton in Surrey. She attended Oxford University, where she played in a band. She was the Perrier Vocalist-of-the Year 2000. In 2004, she joined FIRE Collective (Fellowship for Integrated Rhythmic Expression). She was also featured on recordings by Oriole, Polar Bear and Unity Collective in 2004. She made her solo debut in the following year with Not Alone. She didn’t release a sequel until ten years after her original debut, but she continued to collaborate and was featured on Ben Watt’s “Guinea Pig” and she recorded “Bright Star” with Watt and Stimming. She released Love Letters in 2015.
