Kevin Sun (b. Kevin Sun (b. 1991) is an improvisor-composer and saxophonist. He is currently based in New York City and performs most often with Great On Paper, a quartet that includes pianist Isaac Wilson, Simon Willson and Robin Baytas. The group finished their first East Coast tour in August 2015. They plan to release their debut album on Hot Tone Records in early 2016. Sun was a winner of the Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition 2013 and the 2012 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition 2012. He has performed at venues around the world, including New York City’s Jazz Gallery, Smalls Jazz Club and ShapeShifter Lab, Beijing (East Shore), Paris, Sunside Jazz Club, Panama City (Danilo’s Jazz Club) and Kolkata, India. Sun contributes regularly to Jazz Speaks. The Jazz Gallery is a non-profit jazz cultural center in New York City. From July 2013 to December 2014, he was the editor-in-chief of the blog and conducted interviews with Joshua Redman and Herbie Hancock. Sun holds a M.M. in Jazz Performance from The New England Conservatory of Music, and an A.B. Harvard College, where he was alumnus cum laude.
