Kim Pensyl

Kim Pensyl, a prolific jazz recording artist and composer, arranger, producer, and arranger, has been twice named one of Billboard’s Top-20 Contemporary Jazz Artists. He is a pianist and a trumpeter. His albums have ranked in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz charts. He has recorded with jazz greats such as Toots Thielemans and modern legends like Andy Narell and Chiele Minucci. He has played at such prestigious jazz venues as The Blue Note and Blues Alley, Caravan of Dreams. Scullers, The Beacon Theatre and the Great American Music Hall. He has performed at the Clearwater Jazz Festival and Sunfest, Summerfest as well as Stone Mountain Jazz Festival and Pacific Jazz Festival. Kim has also toured with Acoustic Alchemy and the Woody Herman Orchestra. Kim has over 100 recordings and more than 150 compositions and arrangements. His career has been characterized by great reviews from Jazziz and Jazz Times, which echo the emotions of his fans. Kim is an associate professor of jazz at the College-Conservatory of Music. He is also involved in program development and teaching college classes, including the Commercial Music Production program. Kim performs and writes with the Faculty Jazztet, Wynton Marsalis and Wynton Sandavol, Terri Lyne, Rufus Reid and John Clayton, among others. Kim performs in Central Ohio and Cincinnati with Rick VanMatre, Phil DeGreg and other musicians. He is part of the Blue Wisp Big Band and Pat Kelly’s Psycho Acoustic Orchestra.
