KINGDOM AFROCKS was formed in Tokyo, Japan in September 2006. It is an Afrobeat band that consists of eight members who have extensive international experience. They are particularly familiar with Senegal and Brazil. Tony Allen, the legendary drummer, was a co-recorder and performer who made KINGDOM AFROCKS the number one Afrobeat band in both name and fact. They have created their own music style that combines jazz, Latin, Brazilian, and rock to create Afrobeat. They have performed at many outdoor music festivals in Japan including FUJIROCK FESTIVAL, SUNSET LIVE and TOKYO JAZZ CIRCUIT, as well as at Gilles Peterson’s WORLDWIDE SHOWWCASE. The band has been frequently contacted by overseas contacts in recent years. This led them to perform at Okayafrica, hosted by QuestLove From The Roots. They also co-star with Giles Peterson, FRANCOIS.K and made KINGDOM AFROCKS among the most prominent world-class bands in Japan. After the album’s release on 27 June 2012 (SanSanNaNa), the band performed at the FUJI RCK FESTIVAL 2012. The national album release tour was a huge success and has raised the band’s profile. KINGDOM AFROCKS are one of the most popular bands. Kingdomafrocks.com
