Kozo Suganuma was born and raised in Osaka (Japan) and began playing drums when he was eight years old. At fifteen years old, he became a professional drummer and has performed many sessions, concert tours, studio recordings and concerts. Kozo Suganuma Drum Dojo can be found at six locations in Japan. Kozo continues to publish a variety of techniques, instructional DVDs and how-to books for drums and other percussion. Kozo is a passionate clinician who has been involved in clinics and drum festivals in Japan as well as in other countries. Kozo has had the privilege of working with some of the most prominent drummers in the world, including David Garibaldi and Billy Cobham, Dave Weckl and Sonny Emory. He also worked with Simon Phillips, Benny Greb as well as Tommy Igoe, Peter Erskine and RUSS MILLER. In 2014, he performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival2014 in Switzerland. In 2014, he performed at the Beijing drummers festival, “Drums Summit 2014.” Kozo was the judge for the Asian Biggest Band Contest (“ASIAN BEAT”) and performed at it. He has supported CHAGE and other artists.
